Elkton Gas donates $5,000 to the Cecil Heating Assistance Program

November 12, 2009

Elkton, Md. – November 12, 2009 – Elkton Gas, a subsidiary of AGL Resources Inc. (NYSE: AGL), announced today that it has provided $5,000 to the Cecil County Heating Assistance Program (CHAP) to assist families who are unable to pay their heating bills.

“Generosity of spirit is one of the core values we emphasize at Elkton Gas. Our goal is to help ensure that as many people as possible get help this winter,” said Candy Davis, Elkton Gas Manager of Operations. “Working with the Cecil County Department of Human Services allows us to reach those in need of emergency heating assistance.”

The Cecil Heating Assistance Program is the local fuel fund for low income residents of Cecil County. The Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP) administers the program from November through March. The OHEP places special emphasis on assisting the elderly, the physically challenged, and those who may not otherwise receive assistance.

The OHEP works in cooperation with existing heating and social welfare programs to raise CHAP funds locally through direct solicitation to the Cecil County community. Eligible customers receive one benefit amount per heating season. Department of Health and Human Services personnel determine the benefit based on household income and fuel type. The program operates until funds are exhausted or the season closes.

For more information about the CHAP program, contact the Cecil County Department of Social Services at 410-996-0270 or http://www.dhr.state.md.us/
