Elkton Gas Reminds Customers of Financial Assistance Programs that Help Manage Winter Heating Costs

ELKTON, MD, Nov. 7, 2018 – With winter on the horizon, Elkton Gas encourages customers to prepare for the colder months ahead. For some families, keeping warm is not as simple as adjusting the thermostat. Many face competing financial priorities and end up having to choose between utilities, food and other necessities. Elkton Gas wants to help customers better prepare for winter heating season by advising them of the following programs and services that can provide peace of mind when managing winter heating bills.

  • The Maryland Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) offers financial assistance with home heating bills to income-eligible households. MEAP accepts applications yearround; however, funds are usually made available in November. For more information, contact the Cecil County Department of Social Services at 410-996-0270 or email Cecil.Ohep@maryland.gov.

  • 2-1-1 Maryland is a free, 24-hour referral service for people in need of vital services. By dialing 2-1-1, customers can receive information on additional energy assistance programs offered by government, nonprofit and communitybased agencies.

Customers who wish to donate funds to support Maryland energy assistance programs can contact the Cecil County Heating Assistance Office at 410.996.0270. In addition to state financial resources, Elkton Gas provides customers with tools to help manage heating costs.

  • Elkton Gas Budget Plan offers a convenient way for customers to pay a consistent amount every month for a 12-month period, based on historic usage, making household budgeting easier. Customers can enroll by calling the Customer Contact Center at 866.281.6483 or by visiting, elktongas.com.
