NOTICE OF SECOND PRE-HEARING CONFERENCES

TO: ALL CUSTOMERS OF CHESAPEAKE UTILITIES CORPORATION, SANDPIPER ENERGY, INC. AND ELKTON GAS COMPANY (“COMPANIES”) AND OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS

On January 30, 2024, the Companies filed a Joint Petition with the Maryland Public Service Commission (the “Commission”) for revised and consolidated depreciation rates for their natural gas distribution plant, which was assigned Case No 9721.   Also on January 30, 2024, the Companies filed a Joint Application for increases to their base rates for gas distribution service and for certain other changes to their natural gas tariffs, which was assigned Case No. 9722.  In Case No. 9722, the Companies also requested consolidation of the three tariffs into one unified tariff in anticipation of the Companies combining their operations and assets into one local distribution company.

Public Utility Law Judges appointed by the Commission will conduct virtual pre-hearing conferences concerning Case Nos. 9721 and 9722 on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.  The hearings will be held virtually and streamed live for viewing only via Public Utility Law Judge’s YouTube Channel (https://bit.ly/2X6wLiP). To participate in a pre-hearing conference, please send an email to [email protected] by 12:00 Noon on April 1, 2024.  The purpose of the pre-hearing conferences will be to review procedural schedules, consider petitions to intervene, and discuss any other preliminary matters.

To participate in either proceeding as a party, please file a petition to intervene by April 1, 2024.  Petitions to intervene may be filed electronically through the Commission’s website at www.psc.state.md.us or sent by first-class mail to the Commission’s Executive Secretary, Andrew S. Johnston, 6 Saint Paul Street Baltimore, Maryland 21202-6806, referencing Case No. 9721 or Case No. 9722.
